Late October Favourites

 Firstly apologies for how late this favourites post is going up! I have had an absolute manic last few weeks that I've barely had a second to myself so have only managed to fire up a few blog posts that I already had the photos for. Now all my university coursework is done and dusted with and I have a little bit of me time before exams start so I can finally get around to my October favourites (before it's November...)

 The first thing I've loved this month is candles (obviously) but specifically this Simply Cinnamon one which is from Yankee candles simply home range. Its actually the first one I've tried from the Simply Home range and for some reason I didn't expect it to be as good as normal Yankee candles probably because they are slightly cheaper but I was totally surprised by this. It smelt just as strongly as any other Yankee candle I've tried and it has that gorgeous spicy cinnamon smell which I absolutely love at Christmas time. As you can see I've been burning this for far too long at a time which is why it has that horrible smoke around the edges but I was too lazy to scrub the jar clean before taking the photo, woops.

All Gone

 Another thing I become obsessed with in Winter is moisturising, my lips, my face, my hands, everything. I never really have a problem with dry skin but during the colder months I totally notice the difference in the way my skin feels so I've been putting lashings of this Crabtree & Evelyn hand cream on. It's super moisturising and makes my skin feel lovely and soft but I've also been loving putting this on my lips (weird, yes but it works) because sometimes lip balm just isn't moisturising enough.

 Along the moisturising lines I've also been loving applying my Eucerin night cream at night because it's so thick and moisturising that my skin drinks up all it's goodness overnight and is left feeling soft and supple again. (full review)

When it comes to nails at the moment I seem to always reach for more nude, classic shades which I've never really liked before, must be a twenties thing! My absolute favourite though has been Almond which is one of Barry M's gelly shades, it's almost a taupe shade and it just goes with everything. 

 My biggest favourite this month is vampy lips, reds, purples, berry's I'm all over them at this time of year. My two biggest favourites are both Kate Moss shades, although they both look identical they most definitely are not. One is shade 30 and the other is the famous 107. I couldn't decide between the two because honestly they've both been serious favourites during October. (review)

 The run up to the festive period would not be the same if Snow Fairy wasn't around. I actually still had some left over from last Christmas because I stocked up so much and mines is running out now because I've used it non stop. I will definitely be picking up another one of these because it's literally the best thing. If you like sugary, sweet smells then you will love this and it's pink and glittery so right up my street.

 My last favourite of October is my little baby Mac palette. It's still very small but I'm so happy with it. I have the shades All That Glitters, Amber Lights, Bronzed and Woodwinked. I think Amber Lights has been my biggest favourite because it just looks gorgeous with blue eyes but I've used them all equally during October (full post). Eucerin Day & Night Cream || Review

  I have never really used a specific day or night cream before, for daytime I just used a regular moisturiser and when it came to night time I'd either use the same one or a blemish targeted one. However when these dropped through the letterbox I thought I'd give them a go. They've been sat in my drawer of products to try out for a while until my regular moisturisers ran out and I was quite keen to try out using a specific cream for day and night time. Both jars contain 50ml of product and are very sturdy with a screw on lid which I personally prefer to a tube because it feels much more high end.

 Both these products are targeted towards evening out skin tone and reducing the appearance of pigmentation spots such as dark patches, age spots and freckles which make the skin look less bright and less even. This can happen for numerous reasons such as hormonal influences, sunlight exposure and oxidative stress. I personally don't really have any of these issues with my skin but I did notice that my skin tone looked more even and had less redness from spots that had left behind viscous marks.

 Since I was trying these out I thought I would do some research into the importance of using a moisturiser specifically targeted for the time of day that you're applying it at. Day creams are a lot thinner in consistency which I noticed with these creams, they also contain ingredients to protect skin from UV rays. The Eucerin one has SPF 30 is a lot higher than what most daily moisturisers offer. They also contain less oil than night creams because obviously during the day you don't want to be walking about with a greasy, shiny face. This moisturiser has a lovely consistency that is just right for hydrating the skin without leaving it shiny or having to wait ages for it to soak in. Generally after I've applied it by the time I pick up my foundation and brush it's all soaked in. My foundation always applies lovely on top of it too. This retails for £22.50 and you can buy it from both Boots and Escentual.

  The night cream is much thicker than the day cream and the purpose of it is that its heavier and more moisturising to replenish your skin with the nutrients that it needs. Night creams also contain more nutrients because your skin has time to absorb them during the night. The texture of this cream was lovely and a little goes a long way and my skin always feels amazing the morning after using it. The night cream is also available from Boots and Escentual for £23.50.

Eucerin Cleanser || Skincare Saturdays

Hellooo my lovelies,

 Quite a while back I did a series called Skincare Saturdays on my blog and a lot of you seemed to quite like it but when I ran out of skincare that I actually used I stopped posting them. I've recently found quite a few new skincare products so I thought I'd start up this series again and share those with you!

 I've had this Eucerin cleanser* for a while now but I properly wanted to try it out before reviewing it because I know how important it is to get skincare right and I really don't want to recommend anything that would be bad for your skin. It's a dermo purifier cleanser and it's aimed for people who have blemish prone or oily skin, firstly my skin is not very oily, it's usually normal but it is blemish prone. So this review is based on people who have normal skin, oily skin or blemish prone skin.

Packaging

Firstly the packaging, relatively unimportant but at the same time it is the first thing that draws us to a product. There isn't anything necessarily wrong with this packaging but it's just pretty bland and simple, it isn't something that would jump out at me on a shelf/website. However, this is a simple, no frills cleanser, it does what it's meant to do and nothing extra so I guess it's packaging does resemble that. I also quite like the white and lime combination but it's definitely not a show stopper in the world of packaging. I do really like the clip down lid design though because there has been no leakages, no loss of product and no mess which I'm all for!

Product

 Onto the most important part, the product itself. It comes out the tube clear which I quite like because it helps reaffirm that the product is good for your skin and doesn't contain anything bad for it. Also I always find it quite weird rubbing in a coloured product when I'm meant to be cleansing my skin...anyone else?? It is soap and fragrance free which is obviously good for your skin but I prefer my products to have a nice smell but if you don't you will love this because it just smells clean and fresh.

  It also contains salicylic acid which I don't know a great deal about but I do know that it is great for fighting spots which is what this cleanser aims to do. I can't say I've noticed a massive difference in my skin not getting spots but it's a pretty hard thing to judge since spots can be influenced by a massive number of factors. However, this certainly did not break me out and I did notice that it seemed to reduce redness in any blemishes I already had on my face. Eucerin claims that this will leave your skin feeling clean, fresh and supple and I would completely agree with this, after using it my skin always feels squeaky clean.

 The dermo purifier can be used to remove makeup so you don't need to worry about using a makeup remover before this but personally I've been using my Bioderma to remove my makeup first and then this after to remove any excess makeup and to cleanse the skin. I do this because with the cleanser you have to avoid your eyes so I imagine trying to remove eye makeup with this would not be a great lot of fun.... Eucerin do have an eye makeup cleanser online though which would probably work quite well with this.

Price Point

 You can buy this product from Escentual for £9 BUT they have 1/3 off all Eucerin products for the whole of June so I'd totally recommend heading over there and stocking up as this is £6.00 at the moment. For £9 I'd say it is worth it especially if you have problematic skin then I'd recommend this one because its very fresh, clean and only contains things that are going to benefit your skin unlike a lot of cleansers. However, if you have dry skin I wouldn't recommend this because the salicylic acid in it can be quite drying as a few times after applying I wanted to use a moisturiser so it would definitely really dry out dry prone skin. As a Eucerin newbie I really like their brand and would definitely love to try a few more products by them in the future!
