Nivea Men Post Shave Balm || Primer

Before anyone thinks I've gone mad and bought a mens shaving gel thinking it's a primer, I've not, I did intentionally pick this up as I had heard it made a really good primer. The product contains a lot of glycerin which is perfect as a primer because it locks in the skins moisture and provides a smooth, non-greasy base for make-up application.

The packaging of the product is quite simple like most Nivea products, although it does feel more luxurious than most as its in a glass bottle. Which is fab because it makes the product look nicer but a bit of an inconvenience for travelling with.

I don't usually bother with primers because I've never found one that doesn't leave my face feeling like it has some kind of film on it and I personally have never really noticed much of a difference. However, this one was entirely different - potentially because it hasn't been designed for use as a primer, it just sinks into the skin like a cream. You also only need a teeny tiny bit because it is extremely runny which is something to bare in mind when pouring it out to use. 

I apply it after my moisturiser has sunk in but before my foundation/base make up which tends to be the way this product works best. That being said, one time before a night out I forgot to put it on but wanted it on so I applied it on after and just blended it over my foundation with my foundation brush and it still worked and didn't affect the way my foundation sat on my skin. My make-up usually lasts really well anyway but it was still perfectly in place after nights out and I also wore it to work and went to the gym straight after and my makeup still looked as if I had just done it. So I am really impressed with this products ability to prolong the longevity of makeup.

The best part about this product is that it cost me £4 in Tesco which is cheaper than most drug store primers let alone high end ones like Benefit's porefessional, wh

ich I have tried and didn't think it made the slightest bit of difference. You can also pick this up in Boots or Superdrug as well. 

The only potential downside to this product (apart from it being easy to spill with it's runny consistency) is that it smells like a mans product which might irritate some people but after a few minutes the smell fades away so I personally don't think it's a problem.

How Now Brown Cow Fake Tan || Review

When you think of a gradual tanner, you think streaky lines. Admit it, we've all been there, slathered on some gradual tanning lotion, woke up the next day and thought never again. Either that or you try it and it does absolutely nothing to tan you and you still look as pale as when you put it on. 

I thought that gradual tanners were just an awful idea that should never have been invented, I've not met a single person who likes them, that was until I tried How Now Brown Cow gradual tanning lotion by Moo Goo. Firstly how cute is that name! The product is 100% natural as it uses their Full Cream Moisturiser as a base and the two natural self tanning ingredients used are Canola Oil based DHA and Erythrulose. They actually have a break down of all their ingredients that are in their products on their website so you can read it and see how natural they all are. 

The lotion doesn't really have a smell, which I would have liked but obviously adding a smell would probably take away how natural the product is so I can live without it. It's really moisturising and easy to blend and it soaks in pretty quick too! After I first applied it I woke up the next morning and I did think I looked slightly browner, nobody else really noticed it but I could. The second day I applied a second lot on my arms and some on my legs and I was and still am so impressed. My skin looks properly tanned and it doesn't have that biscuity fake tan smell either. I think it would be a really good one for fake tanning your face too because it's so natural and moisturising it shouldn't cause any break outs.

Update - I have since used this on my face and it is incredible. It hasn't broken me out, gone patchy or left me looking like a satsuma. It's just given me this gorgeous bronzed glow that I have had so many compliments on. I actually feel like I could just not bother with foundation when I have this on because it gives me such glowing, natural skin. From someone who has never, ever, ever put fake tan on their face before and always just used a darker foundation- I definitely will be now because this gives me that golden glow without harming or irritating my skin.

It's been two days since I've used an application of the tan because it's done so well with two coats that I don't want/need to be any darker. My tan is still as good as it was after the night I last applied it so it lasts even when you stop using the lotion, I'm now just using my regular moisturiser over it to keep it moisturised and when I was applying it I just used my hands and washed them after. Of course it doesn't dry your skin out either like other fake tans because it uses MooGoo's amazing moisturiser as a base.

I can't not mention the packaging I received it in either, the box was so cute. It's the little things that count and my goodness have this brand absolutely changed the game when it comes to fake tan! 

It retails for £15.50 which is pricier than my usual St Moritz but it still comes in cheaper than St Tropez and in my opinion it's worth it. It doesn't dry the skin out, it lasts beautifully, it is slightly more natural looking, it doesn't smell, there's no guide colour to wash off and it's a gradual tanner that actually works!!

Clinique Pore Refining || Review

  I have been on the hunt for a decent pore correcting treatment for the longest period of time. I have more of a problem with large pores than I do with spots or any other skin complaint. It's always something I've been majorly self conscious of and the main reason that I like to wear foundation other than to add a little bit of colour to my skin. So having tried a fair few different pore products and had them make zero amount of difference I know when I've found myself a good one.

 Clinique has a series of products that are targeted for helping to both disguise pores and shrink them. The one that interested me the most was the pore correcting serum because it's actually targeted at fixing the problem instead of disguising it which I haven't seen a product for before so I was really excited to try it. When I tried it, like the bottle promised I would, I noticed a difference the first time I used it, not a massive one but big enough of a change that I visibly noticed it. I used it alone for a few days and then after reading the packets on how they were meant to be used I used it with two of Clinique's other pore products after it. The concept behind this product is that it clears out dead skin and other debris that may be inside the pores to resurface them and the idea is that the pores will 'snap back into shape' because whatever the reason for them being large is being removed. Clinique guarantee that by using this product after two weeks you'll notice pores are 58% smaller. I use the pore correcting serum by itself at night time and in the morning I follow it up with two of Clinique's other pore targeted products. This retails for £39 which is way more than I normally would pay for a skincare product but I don't mind spending money on a product that works so this will definitely be getting repurchased.

 The second product I use in the mornings after I have applied my pore correcting serum is the pore refining stay matte hydrator. The concept of this product is to mattify the skin whilst hydrating it and it helps to keep excess oil and shine at bay for 8 hours. This is actually meant to be used twice a day after cleansing but I've only been using it in the mornings because I personally don't see why my skin needs to stay matte during the night?? (just me??). I feel this has really helped add to my pores shrinking and I really have noticed a massive difference since using the two products together. The stay matte hydrator is £34.

 The last product from my pore trio that I have been using is more of a Porefessional or Maybelline baby skin esque product (but much better) that is targeted towards disguising rather than curing. I had very high doubts for this product cause I'm yet to try a pore 'hider' that actually does what it's meant to do, make my pores either invisible or smaller. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this one which claims to make pores smooth and virtually flawless. I wouldn't say it made my pores flawless without any form of make up on, it did smooth over them and help hide them but with make up on it without a doubt makes your pores almost flawless. This retails for £20 (15ml) which I think is reasonably priced considering it's a fabulous product and the Porefessional is £24.50 (22ml) and I think this is streaks ahead of that.

I'm so glad I tried out these products and have finally found a pore product that works for my skin. I will 100% be repurchasing these products when they run out. They are quite pricey so if you just wanted to get one to try, the most effective for curing out of the three is the correcting serum.

Clinique || Event & Haul

 A few weeks back now I was invited by BBC Radio One DJ Gemma Cairney to a VIP Clinique event in a secret venue up town. This secret venue actually turned out to be a stunning house on Carlton terrace that had quite possibly the most beautiful interior design inside. It was all very lovely, there was a lot of people there and I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Kate from Gh0stparties and Adrienne from Thesundaygirl. It was such a lovely event and I wish I could have stayed a bit longer but if I'm honest I felt so overwhelmed and anxious that I left after a few hours because I just felt so out of place. Everyone there was so important and I didn't really know anyone else there and the busy environment only made me feel more panicky.. anxiety is awful! I'm really glad I managed to go though because I met some amazing people and got the opportunity to try out some amazing products. Even being there a few hours was an achievement for me because a year ago I'd have ignored the fact that I'd been invited and been too anxious to even go so small steps.

 As I left early I didn't actually pick up my goody bag so Clinique kindly emailed me saying would I like my goody bag to be sent out to me so obviously I said yes because who wouldn't want a bag of Clinique goodies?! Long story short, the Royal Mail confiscated it because it contained perfume which is apparently a 'restricted good' so it didn't arrive. After a few weeks I emailed Clinique to let them know I hadn't received it so they knew I wasn't just being rude and not thanking them. They then asked me if there was anything I would specifically like to try out so I said the take the day off balm because I'd heard wonderful things about that and the pore refining correcting serum. A few days later I received a big parcel which contained those two things and lots of other goodies for me to try out and review. Then this morning I came home to find that the original perfume they had sent and a custom repair serum had finally arrived with a note from the post office about how they had to confiscate them etc.

Never did I ever think when I started this blog at the start of the year that 8 months later a company like Clinique would want to work with me. Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser || Skincare Saturdays

 I'm back with another skincare Saturday post and this week I'm reviewing the Body Shop's tea tree foaming cleanser. This is targeted at people with blemish prone and oily skin and usually I'm really dubious of foaming cleansers for oily skin because they usually do more harm than good. However, since it came with a set and I have normal to combination skin I thought it would be worth giving it a go. Foaming cleansers are usually the worst thing for oily skin because they completely strip the skin of oil, good right?! wrong, it's bad because the skin panics and produces even more oil.

 I did find that this product dried my skin out a little which I fully expected with it being a foaming cleanser but to combat this I always moisturised after using it which I do morning and night anyway so it wasn't a problem. After doing this I personally never found my skin to produce excess oil so that seemed to work for me but might not work as well on a really oily skin tone. I think this cleanser would suit normal or normal to combination skin best because I think if you have really dry or oily skin it would dry the skin out too much.

 With skincare it's always hard to tell how well something is fighting spots and blemishes because so many other factors can come into play with your skin but it never broke me out at all and seems to be helping my skin stay clearer. It has organic tea tree oil in it which is well known for it's healing properties when it comes to spots and blemishes.

 This retails for only £5 online at The Body Shop which is really good value for a cleanser that's beneficial to your skin and it's 150ml too so should last a good while. Packaging wise I think the Body Shop have done a nice job, it doesn't look cheap and it suits the tea tree theme. I like that the liquid inside the bottle is green but then the foam comes out white too, it's the small things in life!

Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion || Skincare Saturdays

 Recently I picked up a Tea Tree set from the Body shop because my skin was playing up a bit and I know tea tree is meant to be amazing for your skin. I'm sooo glad I bought this because this little beauty is amazing! It pretty much is a similar concept to La Roche Posay's Effaclar Duo in that it reduces redness and imperfections in the skin left behind by spots or acne. I absolutely love my Effaclar Duo and was amazed by the results on my skin but it didn't completely rid my skin of every single mark. So I used this and the first night I used it I woke up and there was a visible difference in my skin, this stuff is incredible. Again I have not suffered from acne so I don't know how good it would be at tackling that but from the results in my skin I would imagine it to help acne sufferers out a lot!

 It comes out like a creamy, pale green serum that you rub into your skin. It doesn't feel greasy at all and sinks into the skin really quick which I love because I hate putting anything on my skin at night that I'll end up getting all over my pillows. It smells like tea tree (funnily enough) which isn't my most favourite smell but it's pretty much unavoidable in a tea tree based product but I'm getting used to it now. Blemish fade only costs £9.99 so it's £6 cheaper than Effaclar Duo and it's just as good if not better.

 I do still use my Effaclar Duo as my morning moisturiser and I use this one before I go to sleep at night. The two together have absolutely rid my skin of all marks left behind my spots. I would recommend this to anyone either used in conjunction with Effaclar Duo or instead for a cheaper alternative or if Effaclar Duo hasn't worked out for your skin. Although this is a night lotion I can't see anything about it that would prevent it being used in the morning too but I like to stick to my Effaclar Duo for my morning moisturiser.

April Favourites

Hellooo my lovelies,

Guess who's back and has finished uni for Summer? That's right meeee! I cannot express enough how happy I am to be back doing what I love! and what better post to come back with than an April favourites post!

 One of my big favourites this month has been nude lipsticks and my recent favourite has been MAC's 'Honey Love'. It's a matte finish which I'm not usually a fan of but it's very creamy and it's just my perfect brown toned nude. (Also I didn't realise that Marc Jacob's 'Honey' perfume was next to it until just now..what a coincidence!!)

 

 Another lip trend favourite I've loved this month is orange lips. As you all know from my previous posts, I've bought the orange lipsticks but never actually had the confidence to wear them. Well April was the month that I broke out of this and I actually got quite a few compliments on my lips! I've actually been loving both these two shades worn together, I feel that it just makes my perfect orange shade. I do like them both on their own but Revlon's 'Mischievous' is quite light and Rimmel's Moisture Renew 'In Love With Ginger' is a very bright red toned orange. So I apply the Revlon one then dab the moisture renew one on top and bam I have my perfect combo!

 Another favourite this month has been my 'Lifes a Peach' blusher by Sleek. It's just the perfect Spring/Summer shade and it's easy to apply in a rush without managing to put on too much which is a massive plus for me. I love Sleek's packaging aswell, it's very reminiscent of Nars and is small with a mirror which is perfect for on the go.

  

 I have a lot of skincare favourites for the month of April. Mainly because with my exams I've been having late nights and early starts and my diet has certainly not been the best. So my skin has been hating me and letting me know allllll about it by breaking me out!! My trusty duo to combat this have been my Effaclar Duo (+) and Sudocrem. I have a full review of the Effaclar Duo here and I'm sure by now you all know how amazing it is for your skin and handling breakouts. I've always been familiar with Sudocrem but never before have I used it on my spots but it's amazing for shrinking them and reducing redness but there will be a full post all about that on my blog soon!

 Another skincare must have this month thanks to my exams and massive under eye circles has been 'Origins GinZing eye cream'. It's just so refreshing and cool to apply under your eye after a pityful 4 hour sleep or throughout the day when your eyes are beginning to shut themselves against your will, this bad boy has been a saviour!

 My nail polish favourite this month is 100% got to be Huckleberry by Barry M. It is one of their new gelly pastel shades which I featured in a haul last month. It's very unusual and I don't have any other shades like it in my collection, it's like a duck egg blue but a pastel version of that. It's a very milky colour which compliments a tan amazingly and it's the colour I've been reaching for every time I painted my nails throughout April.

 This one will be no surprise to any of you and it's pretty much an always favourite but throughout this month and all the lack of sleep, I have a new found level of appreciation for this. No concealer would ever have been able to cover the bags under my eyes but this paired with concealer was enough to make it look like I hadn't spent half the night hunched over textbooks! If you don't have the touche eclat or are sitting on the fence about buying it- do it, just do it and I promise you you'll be thanking me!!

 This is a bit of a random favourite but my all time favourite body lotion is Johnson's baby bedtime lotion, yes I do realise I'm not a baby but this helps me sleep too!! It smells gorgeous, I can't even begin to describe it but it's just very calming and relaxing and helps you to de-stress and chill out and get to sleep. It's also very mositurising and helps you see where the saying 'skin as smooth as a baby's bottom' comes from!! It absorbs really quick too and the best part? It's only around £4 from Boots!!

 My last favourite this month is a fashion one and it's this statement necklace from Accessorize. I love, love, love this and I want to wear it with everything! It goes amazingly with dresses and tops on nights out, it instantly makes your outfit look more 'made up' than it is. It's also really great for everyday too, I especially love this with white jumpers because the white just makes the blue pop. It was expensive at £22 but considering the amount of detailing that's on it I don't think it's too unreasonable and it's not a specific metal so can be worn with gold or silver jewellery..bonus!

Skincare Saturdays || Evening Skincare Routine

 Hey lovelies,

 Since last weeks Skincare Saturday post I showed you my morning skincare routine which you can see here, this Saturday I thought I would share my evening skincare routine with you.

 The first product I use is again Bioderma, I use this as my make-up cleanser because it's very gentle on the skin and it removes the toughest of makeup very easily and quickly - yes, even that stubborn water proof mascara! I like cleansers like that because there's nothing worse than when you have to pull at your eyelashes to get mascara off resulting in lashes coming out (eek).

 The second product I use is of course my beloved Effaclar DUO (+) by La Roche Posay. I love this so much as I'm sure you can tell from my review of it and it being in my March Favourites! It's just a great moisturiser and it also corrects my skin while it's doing it, perfect!

 Soap and Glory's Self-Heating face-mask is not a product I use every night but I do use it once a week at night time. Usually on a Tuesday but occasionally I'll use it another night during the week if my skin is particularly bad or I just feel like I need a little pick me up. It's a lovely face-mask and I have a full review of it here.

 Another two products that I use at bedtime are the Deep Sleep pillow spray and stress less rollerball. I use the roller ball on nights where I'm particularly stressed or worked up about things to relax my mind and prepare it to sleep. The pillow spray I spray onto my pillow and I also spray a few spritz's onto my neck area (as if it was perfume) because I believe that helps to relax me more. I'm more than happy to do a full review of these on my blog if you would be interested in reading it.

I have massive exams at uni next week and they're all one after another so the good news is I'll be back to normal in May, the bad news is is that I probably won't have many (if any) blog posts up at all next week. Skincare Saturdays || Morning Skincare Routine

 For this weeks Skincare Saturday post I thought I would share my morning skincare routine. I don't actually have a really extensive skincare routine like a lot of beauty bloggers but I personally prefer to stick to a few products that I know work for my skin.

 The first thing I do when I wake up is cleanse my face with Bioderma just to ensure that my skin is clean and to remove any sweat or whatever that may have been on my face during the night. I love Bioderma not only for removing makeup but also for cleansing because it's really gentle and it doesn't get your hair messy or wet like a lot of cleansers seem to.

 Next I use my beloved La Roche Posay as a moisturiser before make-up and to help correct any blemishes or red marks. Which by the way it does an amazing job of and I have a full review of it here and it also featured in my March Favourites so you know it's good!

 The last product I use on my skin in the morning before make-up is my Origins Gin-Zing eye-cream. It is pricey (around £23) but it's better than using a regular moisturiser under your eyes as the skin is more delicate and sensitive there. I particularly like this one as the gin-zing makes you feel more awake and ready to face the day and it helps to reduce eye-bags and puffiness which is always a winner!

Skincare Saturdays || Soap & Glory Self-Heating Face Mask

Hellooo my lovelies,

 One of my favourite skincare routines is doing a face mask and my favourite type of face masks are self-heating ones. So when I saw that Soap and Glory did a self-heating face mask I had to give it a try as I love them as a brand. I also thought that it would be better value for money than buying individual packets at a pound as this although more expensive will presumably have many more uses out of it. Also the packets can only be used once but often have excess product left in them so it always seems like a bit of a waste (unless you do it with a friend).

 The first thing I like about this is the packaging because it has a nice chalky feel to it which is quite unusual in a product. I'm happy Soap & Glory have kept it quite classic and chic with a plain white background with the blue and black writing on it. I'm really glad that it's sturdier than the Dr Spot packaging which I was very unimpressed with and reviewed here.

 The texture of this is a cross between chalk and oatmeal (you know that watery/lumpy material) which sounds horrible but when you blend it out onto your face it spreads into a paste. Soap and Glory actually recommend that you use a grape sized amount of product but I found this wasn't enough to cover my face so I needed a bit more than that. Soap and Glory also recommend that you put this on a dry face and then wet it to turn the mask blue and activate it. I tried this and didn't like the mask at all because it didn't self-heat when I wet my hands it instead started to wash off. I found that the best way to use this mask is to apply it with dry hands to a dry face and rub it in, it then starts to self-heat and just leave it for five minutes before washing it off with a warm face cloth. The mask doesn't turn blue or do any fancy tricks but it does self-heat and work as a good mask. The only time I've ever experienced the mask turn blue is when washing it off around the corners of my nose but it would add a nice touch if it changed colour when activated.

 Overall I do really like this mask, it's relaxing and leaves my skin feeling lovely and I have noticed less break outs since using this product. However, I think the instructions on the back are all wrong and need to be reworded as it could put people off the product.

Hellooo my lovelies,

 A few weeks ago I went out and purchased the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo after being told by so many people how amazing it is. I don't have acne but I do have blemish prone skin, I'd say it's normal to combination and I usually get blemishes on my cheeks and the odd spot. This product claims to correct imperfections, unclog pores, fight against marks and that after 24 hours skin will be visibly less red and after four weeks pores will look unclogged and skin texture will be refined. Furthermore it also claims to give 24 hour hydration, lasting mattifying base for make up and helps control the appearance of shine. That's a lot of claims!!!

 I have been using this product for nearly three weeks now and I have noticed a massive difference in my skin!!! As the brand states- after 24 hours you really can see a visible difference, not a massive one straight away but you can definitely see that the products working. With this you have to apply it to your whole face day and night so just before you go to sleep and in the morning before you put your make-up on. I had no problems with using it in place of a moisturiser as my make-up base, it did as good a job if not better in hydrating my skin but also keeping it matte. I actually found myself forgetting to powder this morning because even with a dewy foundation on top my face didn't look like it needed powdered! As I don't suffer from dry skin I'm not sure if it would be enough on it's own or if you would need to use a moisturiser before it to keep your skin hydrated.

 The product is a white creamy texture and it's a thin consistency so spreads nicely on your face. I do find that I need quite a lot of this product to cover my entire face but my tube still feels like its over three quarters full so I think this will last a long time.

 Although I don't suffer from acne, I do get hormonal spots every now and again and I do still have these even with using this. So I'm not entirely sure this product would help take all spots away but it would definitely help those who have really red, angry acne as it helps diminish redness. It did seem to help quite a few smaller spots that I had on my cheeks to pack up their bags and leave because I now have less spots on my cheeks! As for the unclogging pores, I'm not sure if it has done this or not because I have still been getting the usual amount of spots I would get but that could also have been other products causing them. However, it's definitely worth purchasing for the improvements it will make in reducing redness and smoothing skin texture alone. My skin feels smoother and I haven't had any red marks or discoloration appear since using this product.

 I will 100% be repurchasing this when it runs out and I'm super glad I was convinced to buy it because I now feel confident to leave the house without wearing any face make-up and if I do wear any I can get away with just concealer! Whereas previously I would have had to cover my cheeks as I felt self-conscious about the red blemishes.

If you have blemish prone skin, suffer from redness, spots or any kind of imperfection then you should definitely give this a try. I'm convincing everyone I love to try it because it's so so good. It's £15.50 from Boots and if you try it out before June then La Roche Posay guarantee to give you your money back if you don't notice clearer skin!

Skincare and Fashion Haul

Hellooo my lovelies,

 Recently my skin has been going crazy, not so much spots but just blemishes and red marks and the odd spot of course too. I finally seem to have reached the age that around that certain time of the month I get one or two really bad spots instead of just the random teenage hormone spots that I used to get. So I decided I would take advantage of Boots 3 for 2 to try and sort my skin out! I also really wanted to pick up a few of the Revlon matt balms but they didn't have the ones I wanted in stock so sadly I don't have them to show you...yet! I will be back to pick those up soon though and I have a very large amount of Boots points to spend so I'll be sure to show you what I get when I get them!

 A product I've been hearing a lot about lately is La-Roche Posay, Effaclar Duo and I read so many good reviews on it that I just had to give it a try so that's what I did. I will review all these products on my blog if you would be interested in seeing them! The second product I picked up was the No Clogs Allowed face mask which I saw on Zoella's Youtube channel and I instantly had to have it. I love face masks but the little individual packets annoy me because there's enough product to last me more than one time but because it's in a flimsy packet I can't keep it to use another time. Even better, the mask is a self-heating face mask which is my favourite type of face mask and it turns blue when you put it on your face! The last thing I picked up as my 'freebie' was Dr Spot which I haven't heard anything about so it was a complete blind buy but there was no other skincare things that I was looking for so I just went for it. Fingers crossed it'll help get rid of those period 'pains' that pop up on your face at that time of the month!

  On my way to Boots, I was walking past H & M and they had all their amazing new pieces in the window so of course I HAD to go in... I never actually bought any of the things I saw in the window because I was in a rush to get back to do my uni coursework but I will be heading back the day I finish it!! I did find one thing though that I just could not leave the store without! It's this gorgeous fluffy/shearling cardigan/coat and it is so so comfy. Literally everyone I have seen wearing this I've asked to stroke me hahaha. I thought it was the perfect piece because it can be worn as a coat in Spring and Summer but then also as a caridgan on colder days! It can also be dressed up or dressed down and it is white so it will go with everything! Could you get a more versatile piece?! I've already worn it twice, once as a coat to the cinema with my boyfriend to see Non-Stop which is a great film by the way! and I've also worn it causally for just errands as a cardigan! It's not in the slightest bit itchy or furry on the inside because it's lined with a silky/satin material! Plus it was only £29.99, bargain!
