July || Favourites

I know, I know, I am getting so bad at posting my favourites on time these last few months but I'm going to put it down to the fact that the days are just flying by. I am finally getting round to it though and have quite a few new products that I've been loving to share with you guys!

The first favourite this month has been my Body Shop Pink Grapefruit body sorbet. This stuff smells incredible, so fruity and fresh and not only does it smell great but the smell is really strong and lasts on the skin. I've been around people hours after I've applied it and been told I smell really nice - like grapefruits (funnily enough) and it also makes your whole room smell of grapefruit too. It comes out really cool so is amazing if you've been in the sun all day or if you've been working/working out and you're all hot and bothered. I just love this, it's amazing and as soon as it runs out I will definitely be repurchasing!

Urban Decay setting spray is one of those products where I'm not entirely sure if it does what it's meant too but I love using it anyway. I tend to find that my make-up lasts a long time on my face with or without using this so I'm not sure how much of a difference this product makes in that way. However, I like using this to add extra hydration to my face and to stop my make-up looking cakey.

I've been using my Tresemme hair protection spray loads lately because when you're out in the sun it's just as important to protect your hair from the heat as it is if you were curling it. This one does the job and smells gorgeous and lets face it who doesn't want to have healthy, good smelling hair?

Definite favourite this month has been my Toni & Guy salt spray. This cost literally only a few pounds and although it's a super small bottle, you really do not need a lot of product. This is probably the best salt spray I've ever tried because I can visibly see it working on my hair. It also has the most incredible smell (there's a theme throughout this favourites), the smell lasts on my hair for hours which makes me love this all the more. The only downside of this is how fast I'm going through it because I use it so much!

A new discovery but a complete favourite is the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer. It's a thinner concealer than the Collection one I usually use but I kind of like that about it and you can use layers to build up a thicker finish if that's what you want. This concealer really does brighten up your eyes and because I struggle with bad under eye bags this is just fab for hiding them.

My last favourite is another new discovery and that's Soap and Glory's Glow Job which I definitely didn't buy just because of it's intriguing name...... This product is a tinted moisturiser and it just gives a nice bronze glow to the skin which is ideal for those days you don't really want to wear make-up but still want to have a bit of colour.

What have your favourites been the past month? Have you tried any of my favourites?

Lots of Love,

April || Favourites

I am so, so excited writing this because it is now May which means that university is over for the Summer!! Three cheers for being able to have my life back!! I don't have very many favourites this month, again.. but I have been loving these five products so had to share them with you. I've also thrown in a few non-beauty favourites this month too because I love finding new lifestyle things to try!

My first favourite will be no surprise to anyone if you read my How Now Fake Tanning post. It's a gradual tanner but not like the usual streaky gradual tanners no, this one actually gives you the colour a spray tan would! Except you can do it at home, use it on your face, it's so natural you could actually eat it and it doesn't dry your skin out because it's a moisturiser with tanning ingredients added. Impressed? You should be!

I'm not a big dry shampoo fan, I used to use Batiste but only because there was nothing better that I had found to do the job. Now I reach for Ruth Crilly's Collab dry shampoo, I don't watch her channel or read her blog so there's no bias because of who she is. It just really is a good dry shampoo, it smells good, it's cheap, it doesn't leave as much of a white cast as Batiste and it adds volume to my hair.

My favourite lipstick this month was definitely Blake's red. It's such a classic, pretty shade that would suit anyone and it makes your teeth look whiter! Obviously, anything that makes me any closer to looking like Serena Van Der Woodsen I am going to be up for. It's really long lasting, it smells delicious and I personally think it's the most 'Hollywood' red out of all the L'oreal red collection. If you want a matte red lipstick and want one that's comparable to Mac then I'd try this one out.

Aussie hair care has always been a favourite of mine because their products smell delicious and this one is no different. As I have really long hair, it tangles and matts really easily so I need to use a leave in conditioner to keep it soft and try to stop it becoming a big mess. This one also contains a heat protectant so it's a good product for multi-tasking with and I've had the bottle forever and it's still only half way down.

The face cream that I've been using this month is the gel Garnier moisture match one. I had heard it was a dupe for the Origins Gin Zing moisturiser which I've never tried so I don't know how good a dupe it is. It does feel really soothing and cooling on the face though and although the tube is tiny, it's still going strong.

My non-beauty favourites this month are tv programmes because I have had a lot of time to watch tv during exam procrastination. The first is Ordinary Lies which was on BBC One and was based around people who worked in a garage. Each week was based on a different person and a lie they told and how it escalated to something out of control. I thought this was brilliant, it was clever, sad, funny and just a good watch so definitely try catch up with it on iplayer. My Netflix favourite was actually 'Mr Selfridge' which is about the start up of Selfridges in London but I found it most interesting learning about life in that time. It features a lot on Suffragettes, the war and attitudes to woman in the early 20th century. It has two seasons and I watched both in the space of a week so it's a really easy watch (if you happen to have a lot of spare time).

March || Favourites

It literally feels like only last week that I was writing my February favourites, the months are flying by but I'm extremely pleased that the clocks have gone forward and we now have much lighter evenings and are officially in British Summertime!

My first favourite this month is my River Island Paris perfume. It's really fresh and light, has floral hints to it, dark amber and vanilla which on paper isn't my type of perfume but it actually makes a stunning combination. I love that the bottle looks very Chanel and that the liquid inside is a pink shade. Plus this only costs £12 for 75ml so it's very affordable and although it isn't the most long lasting smell because it's cheap I don't mind topping it up two/three times a day. It's the perfect Spring scent because of how fresh it is and for me it reminds me of university and going out because its the scent I wore all the time when I started uni.

I have been loving my L'Oreal lipsticks especially my Eva one because it's such a pretty shade and it is in the most elegant packaging that I've ever seen from the drug store. I've done a full review post on my L'oreal lipsticks with swatches here if you want to see them in detail.

 My cleanser love this month has been the ESPA optimal skin pro cleanser and this is just a sample size so I'm dreading it running out because it's quite expensive to replace. It has jobaba spheres in it which exfoliate and then melt on your face and it also has pumpkin enzymes to dissolve dull cells and leave skin radiant and healthy. It is a tri-phase cleanser because it has moringa seed in it to cleanse and remove make-up. I love this (and hate it because I love it and will need to buy a big size) it makes my skin feel incredible, it's so soft after using this and visibly looks brighter and healthier.

My new haircare item that I've fallen in love with is this Tigi S Factor Silky Smooth Moisture Serum. From the minute I first tried this I knew it would be in my favourites, it smells incredible like watermelon and apple and it also feels super silky and soft. To use this you squirt a pump onto your hands and rub them together then spread the serum through the ends of your hair. It left my hair soft, not at all greasy- I use this every day and still only have to wash my hair twice a week. I am obsessed with this, is it sad that I look forward to using this every day? Probably.. If you are on the hunt for a new serum then this is the one girls!

I showed this palette in my recent Make-Up Revolution haul and it's no surprise that it has been the only palette I have reached for since I got it a few months back. It contains so many colours that I just haven't got bored of it yet, I adore the golds, browns, coppers, pinks and purple shimmers but it also has a good selection of matte shades for blending out and putting through the crease. If I was buying someone a starter kit or I could only have one eyeshadow palette I think I would chose this because it just has everything you could ever need. It is of course super pigmented and long lasting although I always pair it up with an eye primer.

February Favourites || Beauty

I was debating whether or not to bother doing a favourites post this month because I actually don't have very many new things to show you and I don't want to keep showing you the same things. However I do love a favourites post and its become a little bit of a tradition on my blog to do one each month so apologies for the small favourites but small is better than none right??

Anyhow my biggest favourite this month is a complete surprise favourite because I did not think I would like these but its the Make-Up Revolution I heart my lips collection lipsticks. Now Make-Up Revolution are fast becoming my favourite drug store brand, I made an order with them and got these sent free with my order because I'd spent over £20. Usually free gifts from brands are products they're trying to get rid of or ones that don't sell really well so I didn't have high hopes but these really surprised me. I've loved wearing them especially the purple and the nude shades so I will definitely be doing a full post on these with swatches!

My Naked 3 palette has reminded me why I love it so much last month. Those gorgeous pinky tones
and rose golds are just perfect for the month of love, I'm always drawn to this palette at the start of the year especially in February, must be cause the palette screams Valentines Day. I love, love, love Trick it is one of my most favourite eyeshadow shades ever with its glittery rose gold ness and I also love the pink glitter Buzz a lot! As you can see from the picture though I get a lot of use out of Nooner, Liar and Dusk too.

My nail favourite of this month is without a doubt Essies 'The Lace Is On' which I actually got in my Coloristiq box which is a subscription box for nail polishes which is right up my street. I'm going to do a full post on what I got in my box once I've tried out all the polishes but sneak peek this one is a winner. It's a bright purple with such a pretty metallic shine to it.

Another surprise favourite I have is the By Terry kohl terribly in the shade 3 bronze generation. I knew it would be good being By Terry but the shade is an olive green/black with gold through it so I didn't expect to get much use out of this but I have got lots of wear from it. I'll do a full post with swatches but it lasts well and it doesn't look as bold as you would imagine it too.

My last few favourites are moisturisers because with the weather being so cold my skin has been really dry, tight and itchy so I've been slathering this stuff on. For my face I've been loving Garner Moisture Nourish and although it is a small tube, a little goes a long way and it only cost £2! For my body especially my legs and arms I've been using Johnsons baby bedtime lotion which is one of my favourite body lotions. Although it is targeted for babies, it has such a relaxing smell that makes me chilled out and helps me get to sleep. It's also pretty cheap and really good for anyone with sensitive skin because obviously it's targeted for babies so is pretty natural!

January Non-Beauty Favourites

These are probably my most favourite type of posts to read because I love finding new foods to try out, new books to read or tv series to watch and I'm quite a nosey person so I find them really interesting.

I don't always have enough non-beauty favourites to do a post every month but I definitely have enough non-beauty favourites from January to do a whole post dedicated to them, yay.

My biggest non-beauty favourite of January has got to be without a doubt Netflix, more specifically Pretty Little Liars. How have I never seen this series before?! I'm currently on Season 4 and I'm so hooked, I would have finished it by now but I have to wait till me and Gary both have free time to watch it because I'm not allowed to watch it without him. How lucky am I that my boyfriend not only watches Pretty Little Liars but actually enjoys watching it?! He actually woke me up the other day to ask if we could watch it hahaha. I love watching it and am dreading when I actually catch up with everyone and have to wait to watch it! I have got every single one of my friends who didn't already watch this hooked on it so definitely a good one to watch. How stunning is Aria by the way?! New girl crush!

 I have been loving my tan Chelsea boots from Clarks, they are my work shoes but I wear them out of work too because I love them so much. I think a lot of you must agree since I did a whole post dedicated to my Winter boots and it is my most popular post by far! I'm going to be really sad when the weather gets warmer and I can't really wear these anymore.

I think I lied before when I said Pretty Little Liars was my biggest favourite, I think that award definitely has to go to my Macbook Pro. I have wanted one of these for years now and my old laptop was slow, buggy and on its last legs so although I was meant to be saving I splashed out and got it. It may seem an extravagant purpose but its made a massive difference in that I can take it to uni, import blog photos easier, have the integration between my iPad and iPhone and the whole laptop is seamlessly designed. If anybody is sat on the fence (like I was) about whether they're worth the money or are you paying for just the brand name - no, no you're not they are really, really worth it! It may not have the highest processors or technical things but nothing that you would notice unless you're a hardcore gamer. I did nearly cry paying that much money for something at once but it was worth it, no regrets!

Pug slippers, these are the comfiest things possibly ever. I have hundreds of these little slipper Primark socks and all are equally as comfy but the newer they are then the comfier they feel and these are so cute! I'm not big on pugs but they're cute anyway.

I've also been loving my Pandora rings, I haven't had them off since I got them because I think they look amazing with everything. I'm trying my very best to take care of them because I'm a nightmare for losing rings and earrings. I think my favourite is the Romance ring because its so small and delicate and looks lovely by itself or layered with the heart ring on top.

This is a bit of a random one but I am a complete lounger, and by that I mean I'm at my happiest sat in front of Netflix in sleepwear. I wear more pyjamas than I do clothes and I have fallen in love with this snuggle jumper from Next, if you follow me on instagram then you've probably seen me wear this a lot! Talking about pyjamas I read on the Daily Mail that on average most people change their pyjamas every week-2 weeks?! Is that right? I can't be the only one who changes mine every night/two days?? It's so snuggly and warm and its really big with pockets and a zip that can cover your mouth so you could zip it all the way up to your nose if you really wanted too. It even has the cutest label on the inside (which completely sums me up) "today I chose to hibernate".

I know this only came out at the end of January but I got it early and had already finished it before the end of the month. I love this book, the layout of it, the information in it and the pictures are all simply stunning. Although Tanya has released she had a ghost writer for this because it is still about her and has lots of helpful tips that are beauty/fashion/skincare related and clearly not just the opinions of a ghost writer I don't mind. Plus I remember Tanya saying in a video a while ago that she was going to have somebody helping her with her book because of course she is not a writer. I would 100% recommend this book if you're interested in Tanya and her life or if you just want some interesting fashion and beauty tips! However, it does seem that every big Youtuber seems to automatically think they're an author these days.. I can't help but feel that both Penguin and Gleam should have spread out the announcements/releases a bit more to stop it being so blatantly obvious.

I have been loving this Cinnamon jewel candle that my friend Daisy sent me after I won her giveaway. This candle smells incredible and as you can see I've been burning rather a lot of it. I will do a full review post on this soon so you can see what ring I got inside!

Obviously as soon as I got this baby I knew it would be in my favourites, how beautiful is it?? I love having a purse that matches my bag and its handy for keeping all my change organised because I always used to stuff it in my bag loose then lose it because my purse wasn't very pretty but not anymore.

January Beauty Favourites

I'm not going to say how fast I think January has gone by because for once I actually don't think it has?? I think January has been one of the longest months in a long time, it feels like Christmas was months ago. It must be the January blues, saving money and getting back into a work routine after Christmas that has made it drag so much but I'm definitely ready to kiss goodbye to January.

Anyway I've fallen in love with some new products this month and also some old products that have been unloved by me but since I've been saving money in January I have been trying to shop my stash a little more.

 The first product I've been loving is MAC's Red Balloon lipstick which is actually a limited edition product but when I bought it, I ordered it online and when it came it didn't really strike me as anything special. However, throughout January I have been really enjoying using this, I think it's because it's quite a cool toned dark pink and in the warmer months it just wasn't the type of colour I wanted to reach for. It's am amplified finish so it's long lasting and I've loved wearing it to work because I know it will last my whole shift without needing topped up.

I have also been loving my Origins Overnight intensive mask because in Winter my skin becomes quite dry and tight feeling so this has been my saviour. You only need the tiniest amount of this for the whole face and neck and in the morning it leaves skin lovely and soft. This is my number one product that I've been recommending to any of my friends that have dry skin.

I also rediscovered my Maybelline Baby Lips which I've been obsessed with again due to the cold weather making my lips dry and chapped. My favourite of all the Maybelline lip balms is the coloured ones because they add a really pretty tint to the lips too. This one is Peach Kiss and it just gives a gorgeous nude sheen to the lips whilst moisturising and helps protect from the cold.

I love my Bioderma for removing make-up which is no secret but in the UK it's both really hard to get hold off and its also pretty expensive so because there have been many dupes released I thought it was about time I tried one. I chose the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water because I had heard lots of good things about it. I am going to do a full review on this but it's really good at removing make-up and considering it's a fraction of the price of Bioderma, I'm impressed.

For Christmas I was given the Liz Earle cleanse and polish, I've never tried it before which being a beauty blogger is like some kind of cardinal sin so I was so happy to get this as a gift. I've been using it to cleanse after using my Garnier Micellar Water and it leaves skin so soft. I'm probably going to do a full review later on this month but it has been a big favourite of mine in January and I think I'll need to buy a big bottle when this runs out.

Another Christmas gift I got was this NailKale red polish by Nails Inc. It looks nothing special but compared to normal Nails Inc polishes the bottle is so big and heavy and feels very luxurious. It's a gorgeous, rich red shade and the brush is amazing for painting nails. It has the perfect size and shape of brush for even application and it's good for your nails so I'm very impressed with this. So impressed that if I wasn't on a spending ban I definitely would have purchased a few other shades from this range.

I've also been loving my vanilla brûlée lip gloss from The Body Shop. I got this in a free gift set so I didn't have high hopes for it but it's actually really pretty. I like applying this over lipstick to give it a nice shine and subtle shimmer. It smells exactly like the vanilla brûlée range (obviously) from Body Shop which is one of my favourite scents from them.

Another product I rediscovered was my Real Techniques beauty blender, when I first tried this I wasn't overly impressed and then I went through a stage of really liking it but went off it again. All through last month I applied my make-up using this little miracle sponge. It gives a really pretty, well blended, even finish however I do often wonder if it is the most economical because it's bound to soak some product up. It also takes quite a bit longer to apply makeup this way but I really like the finish and find it quite therapeutic bleeding my foundation with it. I must say though it is impossible to clean!

My last beauty favourite has got to be my Soap & Glory Sugar Crush body scrub, I'm sure by now you all know that this is my all time favourite body scrub. This month I've started using it to do a dry body scrub with and it is so much more effective! It feels quite abrasive on the skin but leaves it so soft, I feel like a new woman after I've used it. There's nothing worse than a body scrub that has like ten beads in the whole thing, this is so gritty and it sits in an oily moisture too so moisturises the skin whilst exfoliating it.
